Creativity in Class

I love 💕 making things with the children in class. Anything creative is a good thing!! Arty stuff not only explores their inner creative side, it also enables children to express their own ideas!!

While at schools the past couple of weeks, I have been working with all age groups with kaleidoscope patterns. They have created their own patterns and designs and finally we tried making these wonderful things Kaleidoscope patterns.

This was a whole day activity for new entrants and year 1 groups particularly due to the time it took to colour them in. They did need support to attach together but with an amazing result. Year 2 upwards managed these with more ease!! The year 4, 5 and 7-8 classes loved the challenge of making it work!!

Some of the learning criteria through creative play:

  1. Concentration
  2. Focus
  3. Attention to details
  4. Sharing of ideas
  5. Following concise instructions
  6. Fun

I love finding experiences that engage ALL children and ALL age groups that engage each child’s uniqueness. Just incase you need a few ideas, check out these awesome resources through HATTIFANT to invite creativity to your classroom!

Here are our works of art from this term!!

So if you need something cool for next term- well give it a try!!

Have fun in your classroom!!

Hey, I'm Rosie, originally from Scotland but live here in sunny NZ with my hubby and 2 kids. I am a lover of books, social media, music and sometimes fitness. I am also a full time primary teacher, full time mum, full time household manager and a full time wife. Life itself can actually be quite tough, challenging and sometimes throw a curve ball at us, but through all that we survive. My survival route is finding the positives in everything no matter how small or insignificant. My goal is to share the positives with whoever wants to listen. I can only tell you my story, its the only one I know so...... Welcome to Life's Rosie!!
