I ❤️ Tupperware

Who has Tupperware?? I think most people I know have something from the Tupperware range. They have inherited it from somewhere or it was gifted.

I must admit I have a fair bit. You get quality and it looks neat in your cupboards.

It’s easy to find what I need in my cupboards. It’s all labeled clearly and it makes me feel like I’m almost a professional. 😂

I don’t think any young person gets excited about Tupperware. But when your married with kids, a new vacuum cleaner is sooooo exciting!!

This is my pantry (exciting huh). I love my pantry because it’s neat and tidy. I am proud of my Tupperware. I should be too- as I have heaps of it!! Comes in handy tho. I also have a few pieces of ‘non’Tupperware that fall under the Tupperware bracket……these also extremely useful.

Those big ones in there are very handy. Now disappointed that Tupps doesn’t have something this big but hey!! We are all good. Who has a Tupperware or container drawer?? I have containers for miles and yet when I go to get something, well there are no containers there 😂 typical!!

My favourite product has to be the happy chopper. It’s a little chopper thing with a pull string. The kids love using it!! Chops your onions, carrots, veggies and even crumbs your biscuits for your favourite apricot slice!! Can’t ask for more really!!

I bet your wondering why the heck I am telling you about my pantry and my Tupperware. Well, I love Tupperware and everyone should have some but also because we are all a bit weird somehow!! My weirdness is in Tupperware.

So when you think the world 🌎 is closing in on you, remember that I have a cupboard full of Tupperware and you will feel much better!! 😂😂

Baking up a storm

I don’t know about you but I LOVE 💕 to bake. Hate cooking but give me a bake tin anyday.

I have been super busy this week with work and usually my apprentice is at the oven baking up a storm but this week I decided to find my happy place again. I had a special function to bake for so out came the Apricot Slice recipe!!

Apricot Slice

125g of butter

3/4 cup of brown sugar

1/2 tin of condensed milk.

2 packs of plain biscuits (crushed)

1 cup of chopped apricots

1 block white chocolate.


Melt butter in pan with sugar and condensed milk. Add the crushed biscuits and apricots. Put into a slice tin, and pop in fridge for a couple of hours to set.

Once set, melt chocolate and pour over. Put in fridge to set. Cut into squares and serve!!

I usually double the mixture and keep some at home!! You get quite a bit out of it and it uses up the condensed milk!!

Yummy!! Doesn’t take long to make and is super delicious!! It’s one of the recipes I make for big functions!!

A Touch of Class

It seems new beginnings have been on the horizon quite a bit lately. A shift in teaching direction, not having regular employment and taking on new challenges have been the highlight of the past year for me!!

In the past couple of weeks I have started a new job. Yep, I am teaching full time until the end of the year!

Its been a HUGE learning curve for me but to date I am LOVING IT!! I think what I love most is the challenge. The challenge of something new is actually quite exciting. They say change is as good as a holiday. I can tell you that I really am NOT on holiday as I have been working my little booty off. Last week was fun but this week we are getting down to the nitty gritty!! I am no longer a reliever but their actual teacher.. Yep, kids its going to get tough at times.

Perfect words for today!!

One of my biggest challenges is encouraging quiet times to complete work. Not everyone works well in noise or clutter so we are trying to find the balance. I reckon this may take time because some of these kids are quite noisy. Last week we talked about setting up quiet times in the day and to date, its not been overly successful but hey Rome wasn’t built in a day. We do have fun and at times it does get quite entertaining!!

Some of the things I want to introduce to our class!!

We started small with quiet reading slots, giving them chances to be rowdy as punch and also respecting the times we have scheduled for the ‘serious’ stuff. Its going to take time but we will make it. I am still excited about setting up some cool challenges and see where we end up. Trying to include excitement in day is not something I need to worry about LOL. The kids create enough of that!! I wanted to share some of the cool stuff that is happening along with the sadness recently. Even out of something bad, there is always good. So watch this space for some of the wicked things we get up to in the coming weeks. I don’t want to give too much away – where is the fun in that!! So just watch this space for something cool upcoming!!

I would love to have this!!

Can you believe its August already?? I can’t. Its just flying by. On that note we are currently in my one night of relaxing so I am off to watch some Netfix, if I can keep my eyes open.

Fur Babies

Ok, who has little furbies in their house?? Yep I do!! My friends used to call me the crazy lady 😂 because we had 3 cats. Until recently, we did have two cats and I was so hoping that this was going to be a happy post but sadly we lost our cute little Itch over the weekend.

This was our two cats only last week. A rare picture to capture but hey, it was a cold day so obviously they had the best spot in the house!!

We have Itch who was the Karate Kids cat. He was a really neat black and white cat and super long!! Now in case you are wondering why he was named Itch, well its simple. Itch means number one in Japanese. It’s not that he is itchy or anything – although he was allergic to flea bites. 😊

Itch was about 4 years old. We got him after we came back from Scotland a few years back. Because he’s quite long, I used to find him asleep on my bed very often (and take up half of it). Itch is also a scaredy cat 🙀 which is why I was really surprised to find that he was hit by a car. He is never really went out much and rarely left the safety of the garden. A bit sad really. He is missed already.

Let me introduce Tinsel. Now this one is trouble!! This is Miss Highland Dancer’s feline friend. She is 3 and is transgender 😂😇. We got her as a kitten just before Christmas 🎄 a couple of years back. We were told she was female but it wasn’t until she was named for a while before we found out that she was actually male. Tinsel stuck and so did ‘she’.

Tinsel is the hunter of the household. I don’t know how many times I actually have to chase her around with live or dead animals. Yes we love her but man- she loves to hunt! I often receive a headless corpse on the doormat or at times it’s just the head or maybe the entrails. Sometimes when I hang out the laundry or mow the lawns I will find the remains of some poor unsuspecting bird or mouse.

We are more likely to see her flying across the lawn after a bird, rat, mouse and at times another cat. She is often outside and only comes in when it’s really cold or if we’ve been away. The food dish isn’t as empty now that Itch has left us.

Right now though I keep finding her in Itch’s spot, she obviously misses him too!!!
Her playful side pops up every now and then so we have to watch out for claws!!!

She is such a playful cat. You may be walking through the house and suddenly this fur ball comes at you from nowhere. Or suddenly claws are attached to your leg. Classic!! You know the movie How to to train your dragon? Well she sorta walks like toothless- a kinda prancing movement often. I often think she should have a different name.

They joys of owning cats!! My husband thinks they are cute except of course when they poop 💩 outside his shed 😂

Well I thought I would just share my furbies with you both happy and sad moments. It sorta works as a remembrance of this little dude too!! Our pets often become such a big part of our family lives, what would we do without them really. I can tell you that its not until they are not there that you notice a difference!! Well I reckon I should sign off for today but let me leave you one last pic of Itch. Rest in peace man.

Hanging About🧣

Who loves scarves?? Oh, me!! Yay!! I LOVE 💕 scarves. I think my constant scarf buying could be a problem….. BUT I just collect them! Some people collect shoes or clothes and here I am with an awesome scarf collection!!

Now I have a few local stores that stock my kinda scarf. I used to just love the long soft scarves, or pashmina but nowadays I adore these loop scarves!! Generally Kmart have all I need but I do shop at Daphne’s Designs quite often. Daphne is a friend of mine. She works from home making the most beautiful creations and not just scarves but skirts, tops, poncho’s and even some children’s items!!

The beauty of Daphne’s Designs is that they are unique. She only creates 1or 2 in a particular design. So you get a very unique product!!

This is one of my latest scarves from Daphne- it’s so warm. My spotty one below is super soft and very comfy particularly when I’m at work!!

With winter here and most of us are feeling a bit chilled on these ever changing days so I figured if you might need something cool & cosy to keep you warm.

So if your feeling chilly, you may start collecting scarves just like me. 😊

A Cuppa Tea Solves Everything

Life is full of ups and downs but the best remedies are the simplest ones. I know when I was growing up, and things weren’t going well or you just needed to think, Granny would say “Let’s have a cuppa hen.”

At the other end of the scale and 30 odd years later (Granny has passed) and yet I still put the kettle on when my troubles are troubling me.

I find happiness in a cup of tea. I find memories in my cuppa and remember all the positive things friends have told me over a warm cuppa. Because there really isn’t anything like a hug in a cup to make you feel better. So the next time you feel the world is sitting on your shoulders and you just don’t know what to do. Sit down and have a cuppa!

There is nothing like a nice warm cup of tea to solve all your problems!!

It’s that time of year when we all head off on holiday. Ah, a rest from the norm. A chance to relax and sit at a beautiful beach or hit the shops or whatever it is you LOVE to do on holidays. Yes I love holidays. We work hard all year, we save up and then off we go to have a great time!!

Wait up!! We forgot to pack!! 🙄 Ah the packing. Next to my cooking dislike is my packing dislike. It’s one thing to pack for yourself but a whole other ball game packing for a family of 4.

It’s quite stressful getting organized and making sure you have everything. Did you pack this, did you pack that? Hmmm, not my favourite chore but usually when we go on holidays, I have a very busy plan with a set time line which usually works give or take half an hour. My only issue is my lovely husband. He doesn’t understand the complexities of women packing for trips.

Now I love my husband but when it comes to going on holiday, he isn’t helpful on the packing side. Now don’t get me wrong I understand his rationale over the whole process because I have ways of making things work – like all wifeys do! But holy molies, this is the worst.

I spend days or a week prior doing laundry, shopping for things we need to take and what not. You know what it’s like. I put everything in bags as they are ready to make sure it doesn’t get left behind. And yes, there is a list somewhere in there because where would we be with out a list!!

Now my lovely husband has a different take on this. He believes it’s not that hard to pack a bag. I suppose he is right but then the toiletries or medicines don’t pack themselves. The clothing wouldn’t be clean to go in the bag. If you work on his theory and hand your wife your dirty jeans the night before you leave for a holiday – the jeans you plan to wear on said trip- I can promise you that she won’t be happy. You may be REALLY lucky if you get those jeans back in time to go away.

My hubby packs his bag on the morning we leave. He spends a good hour or so watching TV or playing on his iPad while everyone else – I mean the wife and 2 children are running around like blue arsed flies getting sorted.

He will suddenly get up, shower, change, pack HIS bag and announce he is ready. He does this as we are having breakfast, making beds & finalizing the last little bits to go in the case such as toothbrushes and his shaving kit.

He then says the magic words “I’m ready.”

You can imagine that there are a hundred and one things that I could quite literally say right there and then but I don’t. I just say – “Oh, glad your good to go. The kids are ready too so have a fabulous trip!” Things are super quiet from then on to allow me to shower and get dressed (he has second breakfast) so we are ready to go at the time we discussed and would be ready!!

We are then filling the car with bags and stuff and he asks if I have his shaving kit. Hmm, again that moment when I could say a hundred and one things to him but go with a simple yes. He asks if his toothbrush is in there- again yes. Insert eye roll 🙄

Really how hard is it to pack your own bag? I don’t know about you but I really do hate packing but then the outcome is the best!! It’s the reason you go through this process!!

It’s this right here!! We work hard to earn those breaks- to not cook for a whole week or do dishes or clean. It’s the rest you’ve been waiting for!!

Well all I can say, is that it’s worth it when you get there!! So Even though I am scarred for life by the packing- my journey is worth it!!

I will be thinking of you from the poolside while I am sipping strawberry daiquiris. 💚

Creativity in Class

I love 💕 making things with the children in class. Anything creative is a good thing!! Arty stuff not only explores their inner creative side, it also enables children to express their own ideas!!

While at schools the past couple of weeks, I have been working with all age groups with kaleidoscope patterns. They have created their own patterns and designs and finally we tried making these wonderful things Kaleidoscope patterns.

This was a whole day activity for new entrants and year 1 groups particularly due to the time it took to colour them in. They did need support to attach together but with an amazing result. Year 2 upwards managed these with more ease!! The year 4, 5 and 7-8 classes loved the challenge of making it work!!

Some of the learning criteria through creative play:

  1. Concentration
  2. Focus
  3. Attention to details
  4. Sharing of ideas
  5. Following concise instructions
  6. Fun

So what fitnessy things do you do??

Well I am sorta trying a bit of everything at the moment. I don’t seem to commit to a program for any one length of time. Maybe I just get bored with it but I also find the bits of them that I really love. That’s my other super power!!

Have you heard of The Body Boss Method?? I saw a post on FB a while back and it looked ok. I did my research thingy and the next thing I knew I was the proud owner of the manual and online access.

It’s actually a really neat program. Now I started with pre-Training and very glad I did!! It’s a HIT workout program designed to build your strength & resilience while toning your body. I made it through 12 weeks of the program!! I found it really helpful in building my strength, fitness, core and muscle retention.

It gives you exercises for daily workouts like this one. I promise it may look easy enough but you will be sweating like a stuck pig by the end of it. 😂

And the program also suggests you try some cardio some days or maybe even yoga. I liked that part. They do offer a meal program too but I didn’t go for that!! Have a look on my Instagram and have a look at some of my posts from earlier this year!!

In my 12 weeks I didn’t lose much weight but my body is stronger and fitter than it was before!! I took before and after pictures so check this out after a few weeks!!

I definitely felt the difference but just keeping up with it and work and kids and my Uber skills was just too much.

Here’s the thing, I still do the workouts but just not in the same context!! I have added some yoga- this cheeky body needs some strength and stretches!! If you’d told me a year ago that I would be doing yoga, I would have laughed!! Yet if you told me a year ago that I would teaching Primary – I would have laughed harder!!

We define our own lives and are the creators of our own journey!!

I have been watching a friend who has been posting Adrienne’s workouts and they have popped up on my Fitness FB group quite a bit.

She is on Youtube and has heaps of links. I find it quite refreshing in the morning to try a quick few minutes of yoga which helps me set up my day.

So I will leave it here for you to find your way in this crazy world of change!! Just remember that you can’t go back and start a new beginning but you can start today to create a new ending.
